Nils “The Very Best Of

Label: Baja/TSR Records

“Jazz Gems: The Best of Nils”… A sparkling summer jewel.

Smooth Jazz guitar great, Nils, has compiled the very best of his work as a summer treat for anyone who needs a vacation to their favorite spot.   If there was ever a soundtrack for your summer activities, “Jazz Gems” is certainly your best bet.  Over the last decade Nils has delivered hit after hit ,and now together on one CD, you can enjoy a collection that defines the Smooth Jazz sound.  Over the years, Nils combined his recording skills with his talents as a guitarist to perfect a recognizable style all his own.  In looking over this collection and the history of each song, Nils could’ve easily chosen “The Midas Touch” as an alternative to the CD’s title. He has selected three #1 and 11 previous chart toppers, as well as, composed a new creation to complete his treasure chest.

The first song, Pacific Coast Highway, is most definitely a diamond. I’m sure many of us have traveled the roads with this tune playing and have founds ourselves imagining the ocean waves breaking the shoreline. This release Nils claimed changed his life and jumpstarted his career. He celebrates his successful ten years by inviting everyone to a party with Let’s Bounce, an R&B hit with bending notes and a melody that dodges in and out of Nils’ licks.  Next, a very recognizable ToTo tune, Georgy Porgy, is given a jazzed treatment that makes this a top requested numbers on his playlist.  Keeping with a festive atmosphere, Ready to Play delivers a blend of styles that is sure to please the crowd. With the bluesy Catnap, Nils gives a cool groove to savor before finishing the first half by kicking it into gear with his personal favorite Jump Start and finally, Shake It, assuring that everyone remains on the dance floor.

“Gems” second half continues with a trip for two as Nils turns up the romance. Beginning with the soulful Dreamin and beautiful Summer Nights, he  commences by strumming the heartstrings offering up the pleasurable Soul Mates and Casablanca.  The journey through hits continues by the ocean with East Bay, a tune inspired by a chord progression from vocalist/keyboardist Clydene Jackson.  A proven hit in bay areas across the country but dedicated to Northern California’s East Bay.  Departing from the bay with Jazz Cruise, Nils adds the funky tenor sax of Shilts for our dancing pleasure and ends the excursion with a couples’ favorite, Red Wine & Sunsets. Along with his 14 hits, Nils also includes a new composition After the Storm, which has already begun its climb on the charts and completes the CD with something new for fans to appreciate.

Releasing “Jazz Gems, The Best of Nils,” in mid May, is well timed and a brilliant strategy to reawaken the scores of Nils’ fans around the world. This CD is the perfect accompaniment for any summer occasion whether it’s a lazy day by the beach, a long road trip, a romantic evening or just an escape from the heat of the day. So sit back, pour a glass of wine and savor a staycation with “The Best of Nils” as your travel companion.
