Ramsey Lewis "Ramsey, Taking Another Look"
Hidden Beach Records.
Jazz pianist and multi-instrumentalist Ramsey Lewis takes us down memory lane with his 1974 electric Jazz funk album Sun Goddess for newly released CD Ramsey, Taking Another Look on Hidden Beach Records that was released September 20, 2011. Ramsey basically takes us back with some of the songs fans have loved for many years, including “Tambura”, “Jungle Strut”, and “Love Song”. These songs have a jazz-funk groove and are sure to keep you dancing.  Along with a new edit of “Sun Goddess” featuring Earth Wind & Fire this 10 song compilation with his Electric Band features keyboardist Mike Logan, bassist Joshua Ramos, guitarist Henry Johnson, and drummer Charles Heath. Tracks  "Sharing Her Journey" and “To Know Her” are contemporary jazz numbers with a mid tempo funk flavor. “Betcha By Golly Wow”, and “Intimacy” are two of my favorite tracks with a slow smooth groove. Ramsey Lewis has recorded 80 albums and has received five gold records and three Grammy Award so far in his career.  A new rendition of the Stevie Wonder “Living For The City” and “Way She Smiles” definitely adds an electrifying sounds to his compilation.  Ramsey has truly showed his expertise style with Ramsey, Taking Another Look.
