Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue's "For True"
Verve Records
Troy "Trombone Shorty” Andrews’ new cd release titled “For True” is a flavorful artistic collaboration that is Funky and Jazzy with a splash of Latin and Rock. Every song on this new cd engages you immediately. You will find yourself moving your body to its beats whether you jump up and dance, tap your foot or merely nod your head.
The featured artists are very powerful in their delivery. Track 13, “Then There Was You” features the smooth strong vocals of the very talented Ledisi.  Other songs feature Kid Rock, Warren Haynes and Jeff Beck. Since their 2010 Grammy nominated debut album, Backatown, the group has toured the world, grown creatively and worked hard to produce “For True.” This release highlights Trombone Shorty’s creativity as he wrote or co-wrote all 14 tracks.
Track 12 “Unc” is a Latin-inspired, hip-moving groove where Trombone Shorty plays every instrument. The band, however, is made up of the following talented individuals – Guitarist Pete Murano, Bassist Mike Ballard, Percussionist Dwayne Williams, Drummer Joey Peebles, Tenor Sax - Tim McFatter and Baritone Sax - Dan Oestreicher.
Could this be the cd that wins Trombone Shorty his first Grammy? This creatively compiled work of musical art does not fall “short” in any way and will not disappoint; this cd is a must have!
