Drew Davidsen Puts San Diego on the "Spin Cycle"

 Release Date 01/11/11

Leaving San Diego infused and wanting more, international recording artist, Drew Davidsen, demonstrates his ability to hold his place in the top 10 on Billboard Contemporary Smooth Jazz Charts this past Sunday night. Armed with his custom built Carvin Guitar, Drew takes the stage at the intimately charmed setting of Humphrey’s Back Stage Live, 2241 Shelter Island Drive, San Diego, CA.

Accompanying, Darryl Williams on bass, Billy Steinway on keys, and Moyes Lucas on drums (The West Coast family, as Davidsen refers). Davidsen and his West Coast family delivered a two set electric combination of purely creative soul jazz!

Davidsen debuted in 2008 with “This Journey”, followed by “Around Again” in 2009, “We 3 Stringz” in 2010 and following the release of his 4th album in 2011, “Spin Cycle”, he was nominated as Best New Artist by the Oasis Contemporary Jazz Awards.

“Spin Cycle”, a savory mix of creatively fused sounds of pop, funk, blues, Latin and even disco, held for over 19 weeks on Billboard charts, peaking at #9 and hit #1 on Sirius XM and #1 on SmoothIndieStar.com.

This  multi-talented composer, guitarist, and longtime session player has performed with Nick Colionne, Ronnie Laws, Earl Klugh, Mindi Abair, Boney James, Gerald Veasley and many more.

For all his recent success and national exposure, it is said that this Baltimore native came relatively late to the guitar. He actually studied the cello and played bass in high school - only dabbling with the guitar as a youngster. Drew was 21 when he started taking the electric guitar seriously and states that he was influenced by musicians, George Benson, Larry Carlton and Les Sabler.

Additional awards include: 2009 Momentum Award for Indie Heaven “Jazz Artist of the Year”, 2008 “Top 10 Hottest Guitarists”, as noted in Guitar Player Magazine and “Gospel Jazz CD of the Year” 2008.

Drew, keep on doin’ what you do!
