Disney Jazz Volume 1: "Everybody Wants to Be a Cat"
Disney has always been a household name for many families for decades, now presenting their most famous tunes...with a unique twist! Disney may be best known for their sweet, cute and cuddly characters, but the Jazz music is also part of the magic and attraction, that you may not associate with this iconic studio. This compilation takes a handful of great, memorable songs, but instead of presenting them in the old familiar versions, they've gathered this set of tunes and added a Jazz flavor!
From the swingin' piano and horns on Roy Hargrove's "Ev'rybody Wants to be a Cat" ("The Aristocats") to Joshua Redman's staccato sax on "You've Got a Friend In Me" ("Toy Story") to Nikki Yanofsky's endearing vocals on "It's a Small World" ("It's a Small World"), as well GRAMMY winner “Best New Artist” Esperanza Spalding playing upright bass on "Mary Poppins" (Chim Chim Cher-ee).
The melodies will have you humming. Let your inner childhood come out as you listen to the sound tracks, as your adulthood, says oh yes I remember that song.
This cd is a treat both for the young who are still enjoying these wonderful films, and for adults looking for a little nostalgia with a new jazz flare.
