CD Review: Yellowjacktes " Timeline"
March 1, 2011

  Release Date March 15, 2011

 Review By: Andrew Reeves

Few bands can boast the staying power of the jazz quartet Yellowjackets. Formed in 1981 with a self-titled debut album, this eclectic group of musicians is still going strong. The newest record Timeline is a funky fusion of horn, keyboard and playfully upbeat percussion, and is the group’s freshman album on Mack Avenue Records. Long-time fans will appreciate the same signature acoustic sound - due in part to the return of drummer Will Kennedy - and a natural melodic chemistry three decades in the making.
The Yellowjackets are a highly motivated band, bringing a unique energy to yet another album. From ballad to swing themed groove, Timeline offers a variety of musical flavors, incorporating the signature style of a band that never compromises its ability to create a beautiful melody. Whether choosing the soundtrack for a day at the beach or a night on the town, Timeline provides a smooth and spontaneous way to ease into any adventure.
